Editing

 

 

Sometimes editors like to offer all types of editing. I've seen a few where there were literally four different stages of editing being offered.

 

 I prefer to simplify whenever possible. That is why I offer you two choices:

A light edit will include all that is included in proofreading plus suggesting changes to improve the understanding of content, to get rid of repetition, and to ensure the consistency of the voice of characters and facts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A heavy edit includes the previously mentioned proofreading, light editing, and will eliminate 'wordiness'; when you can say what you need to without it taking up three paragraphs when one will do just fine; smooth transitions and moving sentences to improve understanding and readability; rewriting short sections (this will be with the authors research if needed) to improve pacing; suggestions for changes in certain characters attributes, plot, and organization.
